Advertising Question

Explain how representations in adverts are constructed  to promote the product. Choose two of the adverts that you have studied.

Things considered when creating adverts are certain colour schemes and advert content. For example in the Lucozade advert the colour scheme is yellow and blue to show the logo and brand colours of the sports drink. The colour scheme for the Shelter advert is red and dim lighting to create the pathetic fallacy of the content. The dim lighting goes with the expression of people on the poster as they are sad and asking for help. The Old Spice advert uses bright, light colours to show the audience that they are on a beach and to sell the product as a 'happy' product.

The two adverts I have chosen are Lucozade and Old Spice.

In the Lucozade advert the colours blue and yellow represent the colour of the brand and are everywhere n the advert, from the 'YES' sign to the blue of his eyes as well as the popping yellow of the sign. In the top right hand corner there are Gareth Bales details including name, age, height and team he plays for. A sporting individual was used in the advert the product projected towards people who might be interested in sports as it is an energy drink. The phrase, 'IN A DIFFERENT LEAUGUE' not only promote the drink as better 'better than any other' but  refers as a pun to football leagues as a football player is featured.

The water droplets on the bottle are repeated on Bale  as it shows he's just been exercising and he is in need for a drink.

In the Old Spice advert the main colours are bright and light. The pale colour scheme shows how the setting is like paradise. The colours feature baby blues and light coloured sand as well as a white horse to contrast with the white jeans to give the whole summers effect. Throughout the advert, the man is referring to a male audience by looking through the forth wall. Certain things said can effect to audience such as saying they'll be a 'proper man'. According to the advert, men are considered useless unless they use Old Spice which would further sell the product.
